LIHEAP – Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

Get help paying your home heating bills.

The LIHEAP program assists eligible households in paying their gas and/or electric bills.  Eligible households are determined by household size, income, geographical location, and type of fuel used.

SNAP – Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

SNAP assists eligible people who need help buying food for themselves and their children.  Benefits are delivered electronically through the Illinois Link card, and the dollar amount is based on the number of people in a household, income, and expenses.  There is an income guideline to receive this benefit.

Thursday, January 25, 8:30 – 11:30 AM & 5:30 – 7:30 PM
Saturday, January 27, 8:30 – 11:30 AM

Income Tax Assistance

A representative from Prairie State Legal Services will be answering basic questions about income tax filing, the earned income tax credit and other tax issues.

Appointments are now being taken:

Saturday, January 27, 8:30 – 11:30 AM
Thursday, February 1, 8:30 – 11:30 AM
Tuesday, February 6, 8:30 – 11:30 AM

Financial Planning

The West Suburban Community Pantry will periodically bring in a Certified Financial Planner will be available for a free, one-on-one consultation with clients about:

  • Getting your finances organized
  • Learning how to budget
  • Getting out of debt
  • Preparing for emergencies
  • Preparing for retirement
  • Getting back on track

An advisor is available, by appointment only, the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. Appointments are now being taken for January 18.

Financial Literacy

The Pantry offers Financial Literacy programs periodically.
